Arizona football has hired former West Virginia and Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, as next football head coach announced by the athletic director Greg Byrne on Monday.
The 48-year-old Rich Rodriguez will be new head coach for the Arizona, where the athletic director Greg Byrne invited fans to watch the news conference from stands set up outside McKale Center. Greg Byrne said fans should hail the new coach on Tuesday. Rich Rodriguez had 120-84-2 win loss record in 18 seasons as a head coach, earlier he has worked with Michigan from 2008 to 2010 and West Virginia from 2001 to 2007. Byrne fired out Stoops on 10th October, after Wildcats lost to Oregon State.
Rodriguez has a terrific track record as an offensive coach, while Matt Scott, who is redshirting this season and likely to be Arizona’s starting quarterback in 2012 season, Scoot has skills suited for a spread-style offense. Rodriguez’s 2005 West Virginia team has ended-up with 11-1 victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and his 2006 team finished 10-2, after losing to Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Rodriguez was 15-22 win loss record at Michigan, including 6-18 in Big Ten play.
The Michigan’s team’s defensive coordinator has appointed as interim coach and the team won two Pac-12 games against UCLA and Arizona State with a 31-27 on last Saturday. Arizona wildcats will battle their next match against Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday 26th November at 4:00 pm ET in on home ground.
