The Cincinnati Bengals have got the defence of San Francisco 49ers on Monday. The Bengals have acquired safety Taylor Mays for an undisclosed draft pick.
As per the reports, Mays was flying out of San Francisco and is expected at Paul Brown Stadium on Tuesday. However, he becomes the the third key member of the 49ers defense to join the Bengals in this season. Earlier this month, the cornerback Nate Clements and linebacker Manny Lawson have signed free-agent deals.
Taylor Mays had been on the trading blocks for close to three weeks. Ever since being a free-agent safety, Donte Whitner has spurned the Bengals at the last minute to sign with the San Francisco 49ers.
The linebacker of Bengals, Rey Maualuga, Mays’ former USC teammate has told that he got a text from Mays on Monday saying that he was about to be traded to Cincinnati Bengals. He is a competitor, great team-mate and works hard in the weight room and classroom. He said that he thinks he’ll be coming in and will learn from the veterans.
Cincinnati hosts the 49ers in a Week 3 contest on Sept. 25.
