The former NFL star quarterback, Brett Favre confirmed that he is not interested to play again. On Tuesday night, he released a statement saying inspite (sic) of reports about playing with various teams, she is enjoying retirement with his family and have no plans to play football.
Lots of speculations were spread on Monday and Tuesday about his return. Rumors spread Chicago Bears wants to acquire former Minnesota Vikings quarterback in the place of Jay Cutler, who is likely to miss the rest of season due to right thumb surgery. Some of the reports said Favre is also showed interest to play Chicago Bears for the rest of the season. Rumors were started after Bears 10-3 loss Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Tuesday, the team also announced that they have no interest in signing the 42-year-old quarterback. Bears have been struggling with the absence of Cutler while Caleb Hanie is also not performing up to the expectations.
Favre confirmed he doesn’t have any plans of ending retirement. Brett said he haven’t contacted nor have been contacted by any teams and all reports are inaccurate. Last year, he represented Minnesota Vikings and had a worst season in his NFL career. He had 5-8 as a starter and managed to finish 11 touchdown passes and 19 interceptions throughout the season. Vikings had offered huge deal for Favre to play for last season.
Favre created a record for over 70,000 yards, over 500 touchdowns, over 300 interceptions, and over 10,000 pass attempts. Brett first announced his retirement on March 4, 2008. Later, he recalls his retirement and Packers traded to the Jets on August 7, 2008 but released by Jets on April 28, 2009 over injury concerns.
He got an offer from Minnesota Vikings and signed with the team on August 18, 2009. After his 2009-2010 season, he officially retired on January 17, 2011.
