Carolina Panthers Hired Ron Rivera: Carolina Panthers appointed Ron Rivera as the next head coach. Ron Rivera is the Former San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator.
Ron Rivera 49 is his first head coach job for Carolina Panthers who were playing to lead in NFL games in pass defense and total defense in this season. Ron Rivera came to Charlotte on Monday in middle of snowstorm, to meet Hurney. Richardson and Morrison to accept the head coach job by Tuesday. According to sources, Morrison stated Ron Rivera got four years contract with no option year, where the contract is worth of $11.2 million.
Ron Rivera worked as defensive coordinator for Chicago Bears in 2004 – 2006, later worked with San Diego Chargers in the 2008 season as defensive coordinator. Rivera is the first person from Puerto Rican descent to play in the NFL. Ron Rivera stated that he was proud of the fact that he was of Hispanic descent. He also added that he was much honored to have this opportunity. Ron Rivera is the only person after the Seahawks boss Tom Flores as only head coaches in Hispanic.
