The middle linebacker of the Carolina Panthers, Jon Beason has played in the 64 consecutive games. He now has undergone a surgery on his left foot on Tuesday and has addressed the Achilles tendinitis that has kept him on the sidelines for the entire preseason.
Ron Rivera, the coach of Carolina Panthers has characterized the surgery as a minor procedure that is going to set him back about a week. He said that they are still hoping for the opener and it was to alleviate the discomfort. He added that as Jon goes through the rehab position of it these next few days then they will see how he will be running around.
Jon Beason has signed a five-year contract for $52 million extension this offseason. The Panthers are hopeful that their defensive captain will be ready for the September 11 opener at Arizona. The quarterback of the Panthers, Jimmy Clausen is likely questionable for the Tuesday’s game at Cincinnati due to soreness in his throwing elbow. In addition to this Derek Anderson will be relieving rookie Cam Newton.
In addition to Jon Beason, Carolina Panthers has five other players who will be missing on the Thursday’s game in the Cincinnati. They are the running backs Mike Goodson and Tony Fiametta, the offensive linemen Jeff Otah, Geoff Schwartz and Lee Ziemba.
