Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel suffers hand injury, as backup quarterback Tyler Palko played for Chiefs against Denver Broncos in the fourth quarter on Sunday night game.
Reportedly, Matt Cassel spoke to the media after they lost to Broncos went out of the ground with hand injury. He said that the coaching staff determined he was too banged up to finish the game. As backup quarterback, Tyler Palko entered Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with Kansas City trailing 17-10.
Chiefs coach Todd Haley said that Cassel was injured, prompting the switch to Palko with the game within reach with less than two minutes remaining. He added that Matt was unable to go and was unable to stay on the field till the end of the game and insisted that he will let the media know about his condition after a week.
Matt Cassel left the stadium wearing a cast on his right hand. However, Cassel hasn’t provided any details during his postgame news conference about his injury. Cassel said, he wanted to go back in, but was told by the team’s medical staff he could not return. He added that he don’t want to get into specifics, but yes, he couldn’t go back into the game.
The backup quarterback Palko said that he didn’t know why he was told to go into the game. Cassel vowed that he’ll be ready for next Monday night’s game against New England.
