Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Jerome Simpson has been indicted on a drug charge on Thursday in Kenton County, Four months after marijuana was delivered to Simpson’s home.
The accusation charges Simpson with trafficking marijuana more than 8 ounces and less than five pounds, Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders told the media. This is a lawbreaking act is a Class D felony, which carries a 1 to 5 year prison sentence if convicted.
Accusation broke out after several months of the federal authorities confiscating a package containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana that had been shipped from California to his northern Kentucky home. When the officials investigated they also found 6 more pounds of pot inside the house, as well as drug paraphernalia such as packaging materials, scales and smoking devices.
The situation isn’t good for the 25-year old Wide receiver at this moment; he should be worried because this was likely his last season with Cincinnati, though he made one of the highlight plays of the season with a late-season touchdown flip into the end zone. He finished third on the Bengals with 50 catches for 725 yards and four touchdowns.
Simpson was struggling with drops and route-running this year and know he is also battling legal situation that will leave the Bengals to move the No. 2 wide position in free agency.
