The Kansas City Chiefs host the Cleveland Browns, Sunday Dec 20, as the Browns look for back to back wins after beating last year’s Superbowl Champs. The Browns (2-11) beat Pittsburgh 13-6 at home in Week 14 denying the Steelers momentum for a playoff berth. QB Brady Quinn made six of 19 passes for 90 yards; overall he’s thrown for 1,273 yards with eight TD’s and five interceptions for a 70.7 passer rating. RB Joshua Cribbs had eight carries for 87 yards, while RB Chris Jennings had 20 carries for 73 yards with a TD. WR Mohamed Massaquoi made one catch for 37 yards. The Browns offense didn’t win them the game, it was their defense. The Browns defense brought down Roethlisberger eight times, including five times on third down.
The Browns are missing their top RB Jamaal Lewis and backup RB Jerome Harrison is having a hard time filling his shoes. In his last three games he’s ran for 47 yards and has no TD’s. Now is his chance to shine against the Chiefs 28th ranked rush defense, that allowed the Bills to run around like free range chickens. Their league worst pass game might be able to get some passes in against the Chiefs 24th ranked pass defense. The Browns have the third best field goal maker’s in league and it might come down to a final field goal as both teams struggle on offense. Phil Dawson has made nine of 10 and Billy Cundiff hass made 15 of 17. The Browns have averaged 14.3ppg and allowed 17.3ppg in their last three games. They are 1-6 SU on the road where they average 11.3ppg and give up an average25ppg.They are 7-6 ATS and 5-8 over/under.
The Chiefs (3-10) lost to Buffalo 10-16 at home in Week 14. QB Matt Cassel made 26 of 43 passes for 224 yards with four interceptions; overall he’s thrown for 2,206 yards with 13 TD’s and 13 interceptions for a 68.3 passer rating. RB Jamaal Charles had 20 carries for 143 yards with a TD, while WR Chris Chambers made four catches for 50 yards. The Chiefs blew away the Bills with 202 pass yards (73yrd) but they gave up a high 200 yards on the ground. Three of Cassel’s career-high four interceptions came on the Chiefs’ final three drives, dooming Kansas City in a game that was well within reach. WR Dwayne Bowe is eligible to play after serving his four game drug suspension and he should help the Chiefs 27th ranked pass game , led by his 466 yards receiving and four TD’s. Their pass game will be up against the Browns 25th ranked pass defense that allowed the Steelers a low 141 yards passing. RB Jamaal Charles scored a touchdown for the fifth consecutive game.
