The Buffalo Bills have successfully retained another key member of their receiving attack before the start of free agency after tight end Scott Chandler agreed to a two-year contract extension on Thursday.

So when the time came to decide between giving a try to free agency or re-signing with Buffalo where he enjoyed a breakout season last year, the choice was easy, said Chandler after signing the contract with the team.

“I can’t see anywhere else in the league where I fit better than Buffalo,” Chandler said. “I know the offense. I know the coaching staff. I know the players. It’s a great fit for me. I think it’s a great fit for the Bills. And I’m excited to be back.”

He becomes the second weapon retained by the Bills before the free agency opens next week. Bills have re-signed leading receiver Stevie Johnson to a five-year contract on Monday.

Chandler was so excited about the deal that he announced it himself on his Twitter account, by writing: “Nowhere else I want to be!”

Selected by San Diego in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL draft, Chandler had difficulty finding his niche in the NFL. He played only one game over two seasons with the Chargers, and then split the next two years between the New York Giants and Dallas, before the Cowboys waived him during the 2010 season. The 26-year-old had 38 catches for 389 yards and 6 touchdowns and tied a single-season franchise record with six touchdowns last season.

With Johnson also returning, Chandler senses a wave of confidence in Buffalo for a team that’s gone 12 years without making the playoffs.

Peyton Manning’s camp is all set to make a decision within the next week on where he will play next season. Sources say that while Manning prefers to continue in the AFC, he is open to playing in the NFC as well.

While the four-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl Champion will have many suitors, where he signs will change the NFL for the next few seasons at least.

According to sources, 12 teams contacted Manning’s representatives Wednesday, after he was released from Colts, to gauge his interest in playing for their teams. Among those 12 teams, sources say that the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets have actually been contacting with Manning’s representatives. However, reportedly the star quarterback is not ready to sign with Washington Redskins due to various factors.

Manning was officially released by Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday after his successful 14 seasons and he will become a free agent and be eligible to negotiate and sign with new teams as soon as he clears waivers Thursday. The 14-year veteran does not need to wait until the free-agent period begins next Tuesday, and he acknowledged his agent already was taking calls.

All we know is: Whichever team Manning decides to take over, their Super Bowl odds will likely go way up. One other thing to consider is that free-agent receiver Reggie Wayne will likely sign wherever Peyton does.

The San Diego Chargers passed their deadline this Monday and chose not to name Vincent Jackson as a franchise player for the organization. This decision by the Chargers leaves V.J. in the free market. The free agency will open March 13 and Jackson could be pursued by any team.

21 NFL teams named franchise players before Monday’s deadline including DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles, Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Wes Welker of the New England Patriots. They now remain eligible to negotiate with other teams in free agency.

The Washington Redskins are in the market for a wide out and will be on top of the front runners in the bid for Vincent Jackson. Other teams likely to be after the 2-time pro bowler include the Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings.

The Redskins and other receiver-needy teams have plenty of options on the free agent market which includes Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston of New Orleans Saints and Pierre Garcon of Indianapolis Colts.

Despite the promising prospects, VJax will create some buzz and potentially get the $10 million a year contract he is after.

The 35-year-old reportedly performed the 40-yard dash in the 4.39 to 4.4 range and ran routes while hauling in nearly 50 passes.

Moss hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2010 and on his 35th birthday the Pro Bowl receiver announced his hopeful return to the NFL. He has played 13 years in the NFL, which includes eight years with the Minnesota Vikings over two stints, two years with the Oakland Raiders, 4 years with the New England Patriots and part of one season with the Tennessee Titans.

Moss’ career was impressive before his retirement, racking up 954 receptions for 14,858 receiving yards and 153 touchdowns. He is tied up with Terrell Owens for second all-time in touchdown receptions. His 154 total touchdowns rank fourth all-time while his 954 catches are 10th all-time.

Randy holds the single season touchdown reception record of 23, set in 2007 and NFL single season touchdown reception record for a rookie of 17, set back in 1998.

Even at age 35 and not playing in 2011, Moss appears to make a big return for someone in 2012. So do you think Randy Moss would be a welcomed edition for the New Orleans Saints?

The most anticipated climax between the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning is expected to take a turn as the Colts are reportedly set to release the four-time NFL MVP in an official press conference on Wednesday.

It would not be an unexpected decision, but it would end the 14-year tenure of Manning with the team he headed to a Super Bowl title and a second appearance in the NFL title game. The root cause that led to this decision will be Manning’s neck surgeries, the third of which forced him to miss the entire 2011 season.

Since being the first overall pick in 1998 draft, Manning has been among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. He is a four-time league MVP, breaking Colts career records while leading them to 11 playoff appearances. He also was a Super Bowl MVP. The 35-year-old is the Indianapolis Colts’ all-time leader in passing yards (54,828) and touchdown passes (399).

Manning is owed a $28 million bonus, and with the Colts holding No. 1 pick in April’s draft, they apparently have decided it was too risky and pricey to keep the longtime franchise quarterback, who turns 36 later this month. By all signs the Colts are expected to take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with their first pick in April’s draft.

Peyton can sign with another team before the March 13 opening of the NFL’s free-agent market if he’s released.

Now the questions are: Will Manning be geared up to play in 2012, which teams would be interested in picking up his services? Among suitors are the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.

Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Mathis agreed to a contract extension with Indianapolis on Monday soon after the Colts used their franchise tag on him. It’s a stunning four-year, $36 million contract with a $15 million signing bonus.

Mathis, 31, has been with the Indianapolis Colts since the team selected him in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft and ranks second in franchise history with 395 tackles, 83.5 sacks and 39 forced fumbles through 135 career games. He has led the Colts in sacks in six of the past seven seasons and was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons.

The 31-year-old opened 15 of 16 games at left defensive end in 2011, totaling 45 tackles and a team-leading 9.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered three fumbles.

Mathis plays a key role in the Colts’ defense over the past nine seasons, pairing with Dwight Freeney to form one of the NFL’s best pass-rushing tandems. Freeney holds the club record for sacks (102½), while Mathis reserves second in franchise history.

The act comes three days before the Colts have to make an even bigger decision about Peyton Manning’s future, but the idea to keep Mathis and Dwight Freeney together in Colts was, clearly, one of the team’s offseason priorities.

Mathis and Freeney are expected to play prominent roles in the new defense brought in by first-year coach Chuck Pagano.

The new 5 year agreement, which will pay Foster $18 million next season, is worth up to $43.5 million with $20.75 million guaranteed.

Foster was an undrafted free agent in 2009, and made $525,000 last season. He was the NFL’s leading rusher in 2010 with 1,616 rushing yards and 604 receiving yards breaking the record set by Priest Holmes for most yards from scrimmage ever by an undrafted player. He ran for 1,224 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

The 25-year-old was picked up by the Texans as a free agent till September and then signed to Houston’s practice squad the next day. He was then included in the active roster that November after injuries to Houston’s other running backs and rushed for 257 yards in six games.

Signing back Foster was one of Houston’s top priorities after the Texans earned their first division title and playoff victory last season.

Foster’s agent Mike McCartney said “This was a really tough time for Arian, because he took a major risk,” “He really took to heart that the Texans basically said, ‘Hey, we know you had a great year (in 2010), but we need to see it again.’

Arian was also Houston’s second-leading receiver last season, with 53 catches for 617 yards and two touchdowns, and he ranked third in yards from scrimmage in 2011 (1,841).

Foster is finally getting the money he has proven to be worth over the last two seasons.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been working hard on the outfield, during his visit at the Milwaukee Brewers’ camp on Wednesday 29th February.

28-year-old Aaron Rodgers is one of the most valuable players in NFL league, where he spent some time shagging balls in the outfield on a practice field and catching the only ball at the Milwaukee Brewers’ camp on Wednesday. Rodgers has played crucial role in the Green Bay Packers record of 13-0 in the last season, until losing by the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback also selected as the NFL’S most Valuable player for 2011 season.

Rodgers also spent some time chatting with his close friend Ryan Braun, who was the Major League Baseball left fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers and he was suspended, after his urine tested positive in October for elevated testosterone. Rodgers has played great 2011 season in his NFL career, where he had thrown for 4,643 yards, 45 touchdowns including 6 interceptions with a passer rating of 122.5 and become the best singles passer rating in the NFL history.

Braun’s suspension by baseball arbitrator Shyam Das for the first time a baseball player has profitably disputed a drug-related penalty in a accusation with Major League Baseball. 28-year-old Braun was selected as the National League MVP in 2011 season.
