Giants might be in a good mood after the win against Vikings at Ford Field, but there is a breaker for those Celebrations.
Giants Wide Receiver Steve Smith’s planned Knee Surgery may become the hurdle for Giants line up coming season.
According to sources, Steve Smith who had been tackled worse from back in Giants last game against Vikings, is suffered an articular cartilage injury resulting in soon to be operated knee surgery, found through recent MRI scan.
Reportedly and to the bad luck of Steve, the proposed surgery on his left knee may result the end of this season for him.
After a month’s stint with torn pectoral muscle, Steve got back to the team on Monday to play against Minnesota and which again sent him back on bed.
Since his last pro bowl season, Steve has 48 receptions for 529 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. He had his best season 2009 with 7 touchdowns and for notching 1220 receiving yards.
Lamenting on the surgery, Giants Coach Tom Coughlin said his suffering is truly a bad news as he will not be able play this season anymore, excerpts from a statement.
Apart from Smith, Giants are seemed to be with a long list of injured receiving corps. Marrio Manningham on hip injury will reportedly play for Sunday’s game. Hakeem Nicks just returned on Monday after missing two earlier games as he suffered a compartment syndrome in his left leg. Despite of the syndrome, he passed 7 for 96 yards.
According to sources, Smith could be a free agent next year as he is in last year of his contract, which is subjected to NFLs collective bargaining agreement.
