Carolina Panters’ wild spending bender keeps on going. The team has given off the linebacker Jon Beason, a five-year, $50 million contract extension with $25 million guaranteed. The news has come from a league source, Jason La Canfora on Thursday night. Later, Jon Beason has confirmed that they had received a new deal tweeting that Jon Beason has the highest paid middle linebacker in the league.
The team has all the three of their starting linebackers that include Beason, Anderson and Davis. They were locked up through the 2015 season. Besides, the team has also agreed to terms with kicker Olindo Mare, and the defensive tackle Ray Edwards and the safety Sean Considine in free agency. They have also traded with the Chicago Bears for tight end Greg Olsen who has received a new long-term deal too.
Earlier, the news of the Beason’s contract has been out on the other way. The general manager of Panthers, Marty Hurney has said that re-signing Beason to the lon-term contract was a very high priority and something he wanted done soon. Beason has started all 64 games since joining the Panthers as a first-round draft pick in 2077. Jon Beason has posted more than 160 tackles three times and has been to three Pro Bowls.
