Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Mike Vrabel was arrested by the police officials on Monday, 4th April, 2011 in Indiana and he was charged with Class D felony theft at a Casino.
Linebacker Mike Vrabel was arrested at the Belterra Casino Resort and Spa on a Class D felony charge. This is the lowest level of a felony crime in Indiana. Later, he was released on Monday morning after posting a $600 bond. The arrest was made by the Indiana Gaming Commission. The director of the Indiana gaming Kenny Rowan said that, Vrabel was taken into police investigation and he was released at 10:39 a.m. on the same day.
Kenny Rowan said that, Vrabel took eight bottles of alcohol from the deli at a Casino. He added there was no problem taking Vrabel into Police custody and he was very cooperative. The Class D felony charge carries a penalty of six months to three years in a Prison and upto a $ 10,000 fine. Vrabel said that, it was an unfortunate misunderstanding and he want to take full responsibility of this incident.
Mike Vrabel was first drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the NFL Draft in 1997. He also spent eight seasons with New England Patriots from 2001 to 2008, whereas he set a NFL records as a linebacker. Mike Vrabel is also player’s representative in the National Football Players Association and current member of the NFLPA’s 11 man executive board.
Kansas City Chiefs officials said that they are aware of this issue but they are not allowed to have contact with Mike directly at this time. Due to the current lockout in the National Football League, team’s officials are not permitted to have any contact with the players or player’s agents. Chiefs officials said that Mike has communicated publicly with this incident and he want to resolve this issue in a positive way.
The 35-year-old Mike Vrabel was lodged at the Switzerland County Jail on Monday at 5.28 a.m. The Switzerland County prosecutor’s office said that Vrabel has a pretrial hearing set on 11th July, 2011 at 2 p.m.
