On Tuesday, NFL suspended Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle, Jonathan Babineaux for one match over marijuana charges.
Jonathan Babineaux was arrested last year against marijuana charges. Jonathan Babineaux will have to pay $260,000 as a fine to NFL. Jonathan Babineaux will miss the first match of 2010 NFL regular season against Pittsburgh Steelers on September 12. However, Babineaux can participate in the Falcons training camps and preseason matches.
Last December, Jonathan Babineaux was arrested for having the 1 ½ ounces of marijuana in his car. Jonathan and his friend were traveling towards suburban Atlanta. On July 19, Jonathan Babineaux said that he is feeling guilty for having marijuana. Later, Gwinnett County court reduced the charges to three misdemeanor counts.

Atlanta Falcons will be missing two players at defensive tackle. Peria Jerry, first round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft is also ruled out due to knee injury. However, Peria Jerry is recovering quickly and may be available for the upcoming NFL regular season.
Rookie Corey Peters is likely to start at defensive tackle in the place of Jonathan Babineaux for their match against Pittsburgh Steelers. Thomas Johnson, Trey Lewis and Vance Walker are the other key players in Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle.
