The seven quarterbacks may draft in the first round of 2011 NFL Draft which is scheduled on 28th April, 2011 at Radio City Hall in New York.
Most of the NFL teams are looking for the quarterbacks while two wide receivers and only one running back to go in the first round of 2011 NFL draft of this month. In the 2011 NFL season, offensive positions are being held by the NFL labor talks. The San Francisco 49ers is likely to re-sign the quarterback Alex Smith.
In the 2010 NFL season, Seattle Seahawks ended up in the divisional playoff round. Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said that re-signing quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is the team’s top priority for this NFL season. Pete Carroll added that Hasselbeck is the one of the best quarterback in the NFL. Hasselbeck was first drafted by the Green Bay packers in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
Seattle Seahawks are also planning to take young quarterbacks for the next NFL season to put alongside of quarterback Charlie Whitehurst. Currently, NFL team officials are not allowed to talk with players or with their representatives due to National Football League lockout date.
Sources stated that, NFL looks to divert $300 million from the rookie players to veterans and players benefits. The National Football League wants to decrease 60% of guaranteed pay for the first round draft picks from the 2011 NFL Draft. In the 2010 season, more than $525 million went to the first round NFL Draft. Currently, NFL wants to reduce that figure by $300 million. NFL will divert the saving money to veteran’s salaries and players benefits.
Several NFL teams were ready to take top quarterbacks in the first round itself for the next NFL season. The top quarterbacks for the 2011 NFL Draft that NFL teams are looking to include Cameron Newton, Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Mallett, Ricky Stanzi, T.J. Yates and Tyrod Taylor.
