The defending Champions of Super Bowl, Green Bay Packers rookie running back Alex Green has injured his knee during Sunday’s victory at Minnesota, which will sideline him for the season.
Packer’s coach Mike McCarthy called Green’s injury very unfortunate, saying the running back’s play had been improving and the team expected him to make an impact this season. Green will have surgery, although no timeline has been established.
The running back Alex Green appeared to uphold the injury on a first-quarter kickoff against the Vikings. Packer’s third-round rookie RB Alex Green from Hawaii has suffered a season-ending knee injury. Green had been mentioned as a potential secret weapon for the Packers after looking impressive in games he played against the Falcons a few weeks back. Green represented Packers in 4 games, where he had three carries for 11 yards with a long gain of eight and one catch for six yards.
McCarthy also mentioned the hand injury suffered Sunday by star WR Greg Jennings and expected that the injury is not to be serious one, so that he should be ready to play in the team’s next game in San Diego. However, the Packers still appear to be in decent shape at running back, with James Starks, Ryan Grant and John Kuhn manning the castle.
