Carolina Panthers’ receiver, Steve Smith has praised the new coach, Ron Rivera as a ‘great guy’ and has called the decision to the draft quarterback, Cam Newton as ‘outstanding’. Steve Smith, the four time Pro Bowl pick has still not confirmed his stay with the Carolina Panthers.
Steve Smith has showed up to take the batting practice with several of his teammates, earlier than a minor league baseball game on Monday night. Referring to lockout, Smith said that when football gets going he will be able to evaluate football at that time, but it is not going on. He added that all the speculations and how he heels is what everyone has. He chooses to keep his opinion to himself and will continue to take the right path.
Last week, Rivera has indicated that trading Smith was not a foregone conclusion but the first year coach has acknowledged that he was uncertain where Smith stood as he came off his worst statistical season during a year in which he remained healthy.
Smith said that the drafting of Cam is outstanding and he has met him few time and was very much impressed. After Rivera replaced John Fox, Smith said that several people immediately said him that it was a good choice. He added that when he met Ron, he would say they might sell him short and really a great guy. He told that his first meeting with him was pretty good and was outstanding also he walked away very impressed.
