On Monday, the players who are involved in the labor negotiations with the NFL have travelled to Minnesota. But this time they went not for a meet with the legal team but to have the fifth round of secret talks with the league. The news has been reported by a close source of the situation.
Minnesota is the home to Arthur Boylan. Arthur is the United States magistrate judge who is assigned to run court-ordered mediation and who was also involved in the previous talks. In addition to this, the constants presents in the room are the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, DeMaurice Smith, the NFL players association executive director, the Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, the New York Giants owner John Mara, the New York Jets fullback Tony Richardson, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth, the England Patriots owner Robert Kraft as well as the Indianapolis Colts center Jeff.
However, the process was made in the four other sessions in four different locations. They include the suburban Chicago, Maryland’s Eastern Shore, New York’s Long Island and the suburban Boston, but the significant work must be done before the parties can strike a deal. Besides, the St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears, the participants in the year’s scheduled Hall of Fame Game are set to open training camp just three weeks from last Friday. 15th July has been given as internal deadline as the date a labor deal needs to be done to save the preseason in its natural form. However, the NFL lockout is in its fourth month.
