Jeff Ireland, the general manager of Miami Dolphins has said that they have neared a trade agreement with the Saints that would send Reggie Bush to Miami. However, when most of the Dolphins’ fans went to sleep, the names dancing through their heads are likely included Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton and Giants running back, Ahmad Bradshaw.
Sources said that Ireland had not yet pulled the trigger on the deal in the middle of the night. Besides, Bush still would have the option to accept the renegotiated terms of the contract but everyone was headed in the right direction.
Eventually, the Saints were planning to release Reggie Bush because of a contract that owed him $11.8 million in base salary as well as bonuses. If once the New Orleans selected running back Mark Ingram in the first round of the April’s draft, then the departure of Reggie Bush will eventually become all the more clear.
In the span of five years, Reggie Bush has rushed 524 times for 2,090 yards. He caught 294 passes for 2,142 yards and has scored 29 touchdowns combined on offense. Bush has struggles at times to stay healthy. Once, during his rookie season in 2006, he was able to complete a full 16-game season. Last year, he has played in just eight games and has rushed for 150 yards because of his broken right fibula.
