Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott has appointed as Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator. Sean McDermott 36 year’s old will fired out by the Philadelphia Eagles after this season.
Sean McDermott will replace the legendary Jim Johnson, who was died of cancer in the year 2009. McDermott adapted aggressive mode of defense but injuries were key for the veterans pulled to adjust his plan in 2010. Philadelphia Eagles got 24 points in the 11 games in this season. McDermott had to talk more with starting cornerback Richard Marshall, linebackers James Anderson and Thomas Davis to become free individuals. The Philadelphia Eagles allowed 377 points in this season, which were the most points since 1974.
McDermott’s first season as a defensive coordinator in 2009. Philadelphia Eagles pushed 38 turnovers and had 44 sacks which ranked third in the NFL. They pushed 34 turnovers in this season but scrambled to keep team out of the end zone. McDermott worked with Ron Rivera for five years in Philadelphia under the late Jim Johnson. McDermott was promoted to defensive coordinator when Johnson died of cancer in the year 2009.
McDermott appointed to fill the top three places on Ron Rivera staff members. The former Minnesota Vikings assistant Brian Murphy went to a special team’s coordinator and Rob Chudzinski left the San Diego Chargers to run the offensive.
