The defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, Sean McDermott has been fired. Earlier this week, Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Andy Reid has stated that Sean McDermott would return to the team in 2011.
Philadelphia Eagles team spokesman has confirmed on the firing of Sean McDermott on this Saturday. There is no replacement announced by any of the sources. Sean has come under a heavy criticism in the season where the Eagles has allowed 31 touchdown passes and had gained as the worst red-zone defense in the NFL. Besides this, Andy has stated in the season ending news conference that McDermott might be retained.
Sean McDermott was replaced by Jim Johnson, who died of cancer in the year 2009. Sean has adopted the aggressive style of defense of Jim, but the injuries to the main veterans have forced him to change his method in 2010. The Eagles had a least score of 24 points in the eleven games this season. But the team has not made a public announcement about McDermott’s removal.
On the October last, the popular channel’s Sal Paolantonio has reported that Sean’s authority as a defensive coordinator was in danger position. Philadelphia Eagles has won the NFC East with a 10-6 record. Earlier, Eagles lost to the Green Bay Packers in a first-round playoff game with 21-16.
