AFC win Pro Bowl in Miami

nflThe AFC beat the NFC as the NFL kicked off Super Bowl week with it’s annual Pro Bowl all-star game in Miami.

Breaking from its traditional date and venue the week after the Super Bowl in Hawaii, the AFC levelled the all-time record at 20 wins apiece with their rival conference following a 41-34 victory at the Dolphins’ stadium, site for next Sunday’s season finale between AFC champions the Indianapolis Colts and the NFC’s New Orleans Saints. When John Gilliam returned the first kickoff in franchise history for a 94-yard touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams in Tulane Stadium, it appeared the Rams thought it was still preseason.

Fledgling Saints fans, on the other hand, thought this NFL gig was going to be a stroll in the park. What could be easier?

AFC Vs. NFC Pro Bowl Predictions

NFL GirlThe AFC Championship and NFC Championship Games are set. The NY Jets have a rematch with the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC Championship and a playoff ticket to the Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings will travel to the New Orleans Saints to meet for the NFC Championship and the right to play in the Super Bowl.

With the Saints overtime win over the Vikings, the Saints are riding a wave of momentum. Yes, they are lucky that Brett Favre threw an interception on a play which could have easily won them the game. Yes, they weren’t playing their best. Breaking Down The Colts And Saints Running Game

nflThe Indianapolis Colts have two very good running backs in Joseph Addai and Donald Brown but the stats don’t show it.  The problem for the Colts is that their offensive line has been built to pass block and not to run block.

The Colts’ entire offensive game plan is based around Peyton Manning throwing pinpoint passes to Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon and Dallas Clark.  The Colts did out rush the New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game, but don’t expect Indy to out rush the Saints in the Super Bowl. The campaign centers on delivering a variety of videos to fans’ mobile phones, showcasing NFL athletes as “normal guys with a great job.”

Saints Super Bowl Run Gives Hope

NFC Championship: New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota VikingsWhen the Oilers moved to Nashville after the 1996 season, I never thought Houston would get another NFL team.

The NFL didn’t seem interested in returning to Houston, and it was doing everything possible to put another franchise in Los Angeles.

When I would cover NFL games, especially those in prime time or in the playoffs, I used to put my computer at my seat in the press box and go back outside to wander through parking lots watching the fans party. (more…)
