Coach Gailey Takes Charge In Buffalo

nflChan Gailey was hired by the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, getting a second chance to prove himself as a pro coach and inheriting a team that has missed the playoffs for 10 straight NFL seasons.

A two-month search to replace Dick Jauron ends with Gailey agreeing to lead a team that was 6-10.

In his two years coaching the Dallas Cowboys, Gailey went 18-14. (more…)

Brett Favre A Step Close To Super Bowl XLIV

nflA ferocious defence helped Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings get past the Dallas Cowboys and set up an NFC Championship showdown on Sunday with the New Orleans Saints.

The Vikings overwhelmed Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, sacking him six times, intercepting one pass and throwing the whole Dallas offence off balance to let 40-year-old quarterback Favre engineer a comprehensive victory at Mall of America Field.

It was a torrid afternoon for Romo, who committed three fumbles, twice turning the ball over to the Vikings for whom opposite number Favre was faultless. (more…)

What NFL Team Was The Most Disappointing?

nflThe upcoming AFC and NFC title games are destined to be classics if only to help get the bad taste out of our mouths from this past weekend.

Brett Favre, Reggie Bush and the Jets defense aside, it would be hard to imagine a collection of four games more disappointing after all the hype that led up to them.

20-3. 45-14. 34-3. 17-14.

Who could have imagined there would be two teams unable to score a playoff touchdown and that the Dallas Cowboys would be calling a team classless for running up the score. (more…)

Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings Live Streaming Online

dallas videoAfter coming off back to back impressive defeats of division rival Philadelphia, the Dallas Cowboys travel to Minnesota to play the Vikings, who had a bye last week in the divisional round of the playoffs in a 1:00 P.M. start on Sunday, January 17th.

The Cowboys come into this game as one of the hottest teams still left in the playoffs. After starting the month of December losing two straight games, they were able to turn things around quickly with a huge 24-17 win over New Orleans. (more…)

NFL Playoffs Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings Predictions

nflDallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber is headed home to Minnesota for a playoff game Sunday. Whether he can play — or how much he plays — depends on how his left knee heals this week.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Monday that Barber won’t practice Wednesday as a precaution. He missed some practice time last week, tried to play Saturday night, then was stuck on the sideline after his three carries netted just 4 yards.

“He’s already better than he was last week and better than he was after the game,” Phillips said. “So we think he’s going to be all right. And I know he wants to play going back to Minnesota. But we’ll monitor it.” (more…)

Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Dallas Cowboys Live Streaming Online

nflThe 11-5 NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys take on the 11-5 Philadelphia Eagles for the third time this season when the two rivals meet in Saturday’s NFC wild card showdown on NBC. These two teams just met in Week 17 with Dallas cruising 24-0. That win was the second this season and the fourth in the last six meetings for the Cowboys, which hold a 55-43 lead in the all-time series.

While Dallas has had the edge over the Philadelphia this season, it knows that winning in the regular season and winning in the playoffs are two entirely different things. In the 2007 season, the Cowboys defeated the Giants in both regular season games, but they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champs in the playoffs. That loss was the latest postseason defeat for a franchise that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1996. (more…)

SPITTING ON THE DALLAS STAR

nflSome Dallas Cowboys fans are spitting mad — over an Eagles spitting video. An employee of the Philadelphia Eagles is apologizing for twice spitting on the giant, midfield star at the Dallas Cowboys’ new stadium. That video was posted on the Eagles official Web site. Eagles Web site editor Dave Spadaro says he acted unprofessionally but was just trying to get into the spirit of the rivalry. The video has since be taken down from the Web page. Tomorrow night, the Cowboys host the Eagles in the first round of the NFL playoffs.

Some Buffalo Bills fans are getting into the act of recruiting a new coach. The fans have rented a billboard promoting former Steelers coach Bill Cowher. Organizer Patrick Moran says the Internet campaign raised more than $1,100 needed to give a nudge to the Bills owner. (more…)

NFL Playoffs Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Dallas Cowboys Predictions

nflThe 2010 NFC Wild Card on Saturday January 9th features the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Currently the odds-makers have the Cowboys favored by 4 points with a posted total of 45. The Cowboys won both of the meetings these teams had this season including a convincing 24-0 victory this past Sunday.

The Eagles finished the season with an 11-5 record and winning four of their last five games. They averaged 102.3 rushing yards per game which ranks 22nd in the league while averaging 255.6 passing yards per game for 10th in the league. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has had trouble with the Cowboy’s this season and failed to top 230 yards passing in either of the meetings. McNabb better bring his best game Saturday against the Cowboys. (more…)

Cowboys Injuries and Game Plan

nflJerry Jones is a risk taker.

You don’t own an NFL team and build a $1.2 billion stadium without taking a few chances.

Jones took one on coach Wade Phillips, and it hasn’t paid off.

He hopes it will on Saturday when the Dallas Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC wild card game at Cowboys Stadium.

For all the chances or risks that Jones takes, his confidence has never been better in what his team is trying to accomplish now.

But last January, Jones’ confidence was nearly destroyed. The Cowboys, with a chance to reach the postseason with a victory, were beaten by the Eagles, 44-6. (more…)

Saints fans scramble to watch the game

nflMany New Orleans Saints fans are looking for three things this weekend: Drew Brees to have a big game, the Saints to beat the Dallas Cowboys and a friend with a satellite dish.

The undefeated Saints play the Cowboys at 7:20 p.m. Saturday in one of the most anticipated games of the season at the Superdome.

It almost will certainly be the least watched Saints game of the season. The game will be televised by the NFL Network — a cable network owned by the league that is not carried by the Suddenlink cable system.

That leaves the game available only by satellite — both Dish Network and DirecTV offer the channel on many of their channel packages — or at a handful of local businesses.

“All the Saints games are important, but this is a Haley’s Comet-type event,” said longtime Saints fan David Van Gessel of Pineville. “What’s going on? What are they doing about it?”

Suddenlink officials say they were unable to reach an agreement with the NFL over the cost of carrying the network. (more…)
