New York Jets 7-16 Victory Over Carolina Panthers

nflDarrelle Revis saw the ball deflect off Steve Smith’s foot and float right into his hands.

Finally, the New York Jets thought, a lucky bounce that went their way.

Revis returned one of the Jets’ four interceptions 67 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and New York overcame an injury scare to quarterback Mark Sanchez before holding on to beat the Carolina Panthers 17-6 on Sunday.

“That was a sigh of relief,” Revis said of his early touchdown. “That was an easy score right there. It doesn’t get any better than that to start us off.”

Thomas Jones had a 3-yard touchdown run as the Jets (5-6) won at home for the first time since beating Tennessee in Week 3, sending the Panthers (4-7) to their second straight loss. (more…)

Miami won with 24-17 about Carolina in Week11 NFL Match

nfl

With Ronnie Brown lost for the season, the Miami Dolphins turned to their aging running back.

Ricky Williams showed he’s still got it.

The 32-year-old Williams rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Dolphins beat the Carolina Panthers 24-17 on Thursday night for their fourth win in six games to get into the AFC playoff picture.

A day after learning Brown is lost for the season to a foot injury, the Dolphins (5-5) continued their surge after an 0-3 start behind Williams. The 2002 NFL rushing champion had a receiving and rushing touchdown in the same game for the first time in his career that included a couple of lost seasons. (more…)

Miami Dolphins Vs Carolina Panthers Week 11 NFL Match

nfl

This Thursday night a pair of 4-5 teams will be looking to get back to .500 when the Miami Dolphins take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Last week, the Dolphins needed a late field goal to escape with a 25-23 win over Tampa Bay while the Panthers took care of division-rival Atlanta 28-19. These two teams have not met since the 2005 season when the Dolphins beat the Panthers 27-24 in a good one behind 132 rushing yards by Ronnie Brown. There have only been three meetings between these two franchises and Miami has won all three.

Miami won its only other trip to Carolina 13-9 back in 1998, but the Phins could have their work cut out for themselves this time around. The Panthers are coming on strong and Miami running back Ronnie Brown is listed as doubtful. That means that Ricky Williams, who has rushed for 558 yards and six scores on a 5.3 yards per carry average, will take over as the feature back. But Williams is no spring chicken, and seems to thrive because he is a change of pace after the defense gets used to Brown. Lex Hilliard is the next running back in line and he will likely split carries with Williams Thursday. If Hilliard does the job, the Dolphins, who are averaging 156 yards rushing on 4.6 yards per carry, will still be tough to stop on the ground. (more…)

Carolina won with 28-19 about Atlanta in Week10 NFL Match

Box Score Carolina 28 and Atlanta 19

The Carolina Panthers might have finally found a way to solve Jake Delhomme’s woes: controlled chaos.

A heavy dose of miscues from Matt Ryan and banged-up Atlanta didn’t hurt, either.

The Panthers unleashed a no-huddle offense on Sunday with Delhomme calling the plays, and it produced two touchdown passes to Steve Smith, no turnovers and a 28-19 victory over the Falcons.”No huddle is controlled chaos,” said Smith, who tripled Carolina’s touchdown total by wide receivers coming into the game. “You’ve got defense running around and they don’t know what they’re doing. The no huddle is really easy and simple.”

While Delhomme went turnover-free for the third straight game following 13 interceptions in his first six, it was a difficult day for Ryan and the Falcons (5-4). First, they lost running back Michael Turner to a second-quarter sprained ankle after he already rushed for 111 yards. Then kicker Jason Elam and Ryan stymied their late comeback hopes with key fourth-quarter mistakes.Ryan, throwing too high much of the day, had two more interceptions He’s at 12, one more than all of his stellar rookie season.”I’m young,” Ryan said. “I’ve got a long way to go, a lot of improving to do and a lot of things to learn.”With Ryan completing only 7 of 19 passes in the first half, the Panthers (4-5) built a 21-10 halftime lead.

Delhomme looked poised and the Falcons struggled to get the right defensive personnel on the field.Delhomme, no longer the NFL leader in interceptions after Jay Cutler’s struggles with Chicago, found Smith on a pair of 4-yard TDs and was in his comfort zone. Much of Delhomme’s best work over the years has come in the 2-minute offense.”That is something that we practice a good bit,” Delhomme said of the no-huddle. “I’m extremely comfortable in that situation.”The Panthers’ offense wasn’t as successful after halftime, and the game wasn’t sealed until Richard Marshall picked off Ryan, setting up Jonathan Stewart’s 45-yard touchdown run with 2:07 left.Earlier, Elam missed a 34-yard field goal that would have given Atlanta the lead. It allowed the Panthers to hold on despite losing the cog of their offensive line, left tackle Jordan Gross, to a broken right ankle.”I think we were at a major crossroad in the season being 3-5,” said receiver Muhsin Muhammad, who had six catches for 91 yards in his return from a knee injury. “If you look at the playoff picture, we have as good a chance as anybody else with seven games left in the season. The Carolina Panthers host the Atlanta Falcons, Sunday Nov 15, as two NFC South squads battle it out. The Falcons have won their last two regular season games over the Panthers.

The Falcons (5-3) beat Washington 31-17 at home in Week 9 and now sit second in the NFC South. QB Matt Ryan made 17 of 24 passes for 135 yards with one TD pass and one interception; overall he’s thrown for 1,784 yards with 13 TD passes and 10 interceptions for a 82.2 passer rating. RB Michael Turner had 18 carries for 166 yards with two TD’s, while TE Tony Gonzalez made five catches for 41 yards with a TD. Their defense pulled down one interception and had five sacks on the day. The Falcons 16th overall offense will be up against a tough ninth ranked Panthers defense , that’s ranked sixth against the pass. The Falcons must get their 11th ranked running game in high gear against the Panthers 23rd ranked rush defense. On defense they’ll have to stop Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams, who leads his squad with seven TD’s and 768 yards rushing. He’s averaged 153 yards rushing in back to back games. The Falcons average 25.2ppg and give up 20.8ppg, while they are 1-3 SU on the road where they average 25.8ppg and allow 27ppg. They are 6-2 ATS and 5-3 over/under.

The Panthers (3-5) lost in New Orleans 20-30 in Week 9 and still sit third in the NFC South. QB Jake Delhomme made 17 of 30 passes for 201 yards with no TD’s or interceptions; overall he’s thrown for 1,463 yards with five TD passes and 12 interceptions for a 61.7 passer rating. RB DeAngelo Williams had 21 carries for 149 yards with two TD’s while WR Steve Smith made four catches for 64 yards. Their defense struggled with one sack and interception. Their offense went 1 for 4 in the red zone as they continue to struggle. It’ll be run n gun for the Panthers third ranked running game , while their pass game struggles lowly ranked 25th. QB Delhomme has thrown more interceptions than TD’s and there’s a good chance Falcons Safety Thomas DeCoud could add to his two interceptions. The Panthers average 18.5ppg and give up 24.5ppg, while they are 1-2 SU at home where they average 13ppg and allow 25ppg. They are 3-5 ATS and 4-4 over/under. (more…)
