AFC win Pro Bowl in Miami

nflThe AFC beat the NFC as the NFL kicked off Super Bowl week with it’s annual Pro Bowl all-star game in Miami.

Breaking from its traditional date and venue the week after the Super Bowl in Hawaii, the AFC levelled the all-time record at 20 wins apiece with their rival conference following a 41-34 victory at the Dolphins’ stadium, site for next Sunday’s season finale between AFC champions the Indianapolis Colts and the NFC’s New Orleans Saints. Gay Dating Super Bowl Ad Creates Controversy

nflThe mega event of American football, Super Bowl, which crowns the best NFL team of the United States will be played after few days. As the day for the Super Bowl is coming closer, the craze of football lovers is growing stronger.

Noting the huge popularity of the Super Bowl, many organizations prefer to display their advertisements during this event and receive a better exposure. The commercials of Super Bowl has always formed a major attraction and this year also some of the advertisements have already started brewing a controversy. One of the controversial commercial is the gay dating ad that is still under consideration of the CBS officials. They have not yet decided whether to discard it or air it and so the fate of the advertisement is in jeopardy. (more…)

AFC Vs. NFC Pro Bowl Predictions

NFL GirlThe AFC Championship and NFC Championship Games are set. The NY Jets have a rematch with the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC Championship and a playoff ticket to the Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings will travel to the New Orleans Saints to meet for the NFC Championship and the right to play in the Super Bowl.

The first game of the Conference Championship Playoffs Round will be Sunday January 24th, 3 p.m. Eastern Time on the CBS network featuring the NY Jets @ Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. (more…)

Colts, Saints Players Forced Into Pro Bowl

nflThe seven players each on the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints who were chosen to the Pro Bowl won’t play in it, as this year it happens a week before the Super Bowl.

But the NFL is still making the players show up.

The league has told all the players who were chosen for the Pro Bowl that they’ll have to be there to talk to the media before the game and stand on the sidelines at the start of it. (more…)

Two Giants Linemen Added to Pro Bowl Roster

Giants linemen David Diehl and Chris Snee were added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster Wednesday thanks to Jahari Evans and Jonathan Stinchcomb of the New Orleans Saints, who are playing in the Super Bowl the Sunday after. You can be sure none of the four are too disappointed in the situation. (more…)

New Pro Bowl Format Good For Fletcher

nflWashington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher is rooting for Jonathan Vilma and his team, New Orleans, in the Super Bowl.

That’s because the Saints’ NFC Championship win got him a Pro Bowl nod.

“For selfish reasons, I’m a Saints fan. They got me here,” said Fletcher, a 12-year pro but first time Pro Bowler who will be replacing Vilma in the lineup. (more…)

With the Saints overtime win over the Vikings, the Saints are riding a wave of momentum. Yes, they are lucky that Brett Favre threw an interception on a play which could have easily won them the game. Yes, they weren’t playing their best. Saints Super Bowl Run Gives Hope

NFC Championship: New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota VikingsWhen the Oilers moved to Nashville after the 1996 season, I never thought Houston would get another NFL team.

The NFL didn’t seem interested in returning to Houston, and it was doing everything possible to put another franchise in Los Angeles.

When I would cover NFL games, especially those in prime time or in the playoffs, I used to put my computer at my seat in the press box and go back outside to wander through parking lots watching the fans party. (more…)

Hometown NFL Player Heading To Super Bowl

nflA hometown sports hero is heading to the Super Bowl after helping the Indianapolis Colts win the AFC Championship on Sunday.

Rookie NFL wide receiver Austin Collie had a career-high seven catches for 123 yards during the game against the New York Jets, including a 16-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Manning that put the Colts ahead in the first half.

Chris Jones, Austin’s football coach at Oak Ridge, got a text from the Colts #17 after his victory at the AFC championship: “Are we serious right now!” (more…)

Saints Super Bowl-ing On Coin Toss

nflThe New Orleans Saints joined earlier AFC Championship winner Indianapolis in advancing to the Super Bowl, after escaping at home with a 31-28 overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. They did this, in part, thanks to the flip of a coin.

Just as the game itself began with a coin toss to determine possession of the football, so too did overtime. But unlike regulation, the NFL playoffs have no clock in overtime. Still, the first team to score is the winner, regardless of time or how many possessions each team has. (more…)
