Young may miss game vs. St. Louis

nflTennessee quarterback Vince Young is questionable for Sunday’s game against St. Louis after re-aggravating his sore right knee.

Young watched as Kerry Collins took all the first-team reps in yesterday’s practice. He was originally hurt in last weekend’s 27-17 loss at Indianapolis, though tests on the knee came back fine.

“He didn’t practice today,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said, adding that missing practice “will not have anything to do with whether or not he plays. He understands the game plan and got at least half of the preparation.”

Running back Chris Johnson returned to practice fully and will be listed as probable this week, as will receiver Kenny Britt, who also practiced fully after a back injury.(source:post-gazette)

Tennessee Titans Vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL Week13 Picks

nflNFL Week13 Picks: The unbeaten Indianapolis Colts host the red hot Tennessee Titans, Sunday Dec 6, as the Titans look for their sixth straight win behind QB Vince Young. The Colts have won their last two meetings over the Titans. NFL oddsmakers at sportsbetting.com have the Colts as -6.5 point home favs over the Titans with the over/under set at 47 points.

The Titans (5-6) beat Arizona 20-17 at home in Week 12 and have moved up to third in the AFC South. QB Vince Young made 27 of 43 passes for 387 yards with one TD; overall he’s thrown for 1,010 yards with four TD’s and two interceptions in five starts for a 90.2 passer rating. RB Chris Johnson had 18 carries for 154 yards with a TD, while WR Kenny Brit made seven catches for 128 yards with a TD. The Titans are the best team at running the ball thanks to RB Chris Johnson, who has 1,396 yards rushing with 10 TD’s. Since Vince Young took over Johnson has seven TD’s in five games. WR Kenny Brit is Vince Young’s go to guy, he has two TD’s in two games after a 51 yard haul against the Cardinals last week. Just like Houston, Vince Young could find a way to air out the ball against the Colts 20th ranked pass defense that gave up 274 yards. (more…)

Will wasted timeout hurt Titans?

nfl

That was an odd timeout by Jeff Fisher with just a second left on the first quarter clock. He could have simply let it run out and gotten the break between quarters.

Vince Young was unhappy, and barked at Kenny Britt, the rookie receiver who had been lined up wide right in the formation.

The Titans came out of the timeout and ran a nice option play on which Young pitched to Chris Johnson, who gained 17 yards.

Will the lost timeout come back to haunt Fisher?(source)

Is Brown an answer for Texans?

nfl

The Texans let it be known this week that Steve Slaton would be back as their starting running back.

But it’s Chris Brown who’s gotten a big share of the work for them so far and is a more physical option.

The Titans are playing defenses that prioritize stopping Andre Johnson, who hurt them badly in the first meeting.

Brown misses, Bironas hits

nfl

Kris Brown missed a 42-yarder wide left at the end of the Texans’ last game that could have forced overtime. He just missed a 49-yarder wide right that could have given the Texans a lead against the Titans.

This one had plenty of distance, but slid to the right.

Not ideal work from a guy known for his ability to connect from long distance.

Titans kicker Rob Bironas also has a big leg.

After Vince Young keyed a drive with two great third-down runs, Bironas hit from 50 to give the Titans a 17-14 lead.(source)

Titans 20-17 victory over the Texans

nfl

Vince Young remained undefeated as a starter for the Tennessee Titans this season thanks to Rob Bironas and his knack for making big kicks against the Houston Texans.

Bironas kicked a 53-yard field goal with less than a minute left and the Titans beat the Texans 20-17 Monday night for their fourth straight victory after starting the season with six losses in a row. It was against the Texans two years ago that Bironas set an NFL record with eight field goals, including the game-winner as time expired in a 38-36 win. He also made a 50-yarder Monday.

“I always feel good down here … I like Houston,” he said. “I don’t think Houston likes me too much.” The Texans (5-5) had a chance to tie it, but Kris Brown’s 49-yard attempt with 1 second remaining was wide left. It was his second miss of the game and the second straight game he’s missed a chance to send the Texans to overtime. (more…)

Buffalo bills vs Tennessee titans Live Streaming : Week 10

nfl

Vince Young’s recent insertion into the lineup in place of Kerry Collins has certainly paid off to this point.

Young is 2-0 as a starter and has looked pretty decent in his return. In two games, ol’ Vinny is 27 for 42 with 297 yards and one touchdown, as well as one rushing touchdown. He has a rating right now of 83.1, and that’s not bad.

The real story however has been Chris Johnson who to this point, has 969 rushing yards with six touchdowns and 162 receiving yards with one touchdown.

He’s the catalyst for this Titans team, and this week, I expect another HUGE game out of him as Buffalo has the worst run D in the league. Yep, that means they rank #32…..sad.

Buffalo won’t compete in this game. Their running game is a mess, their quarterback play has been horrid all season and defensively, they just look lost at times. This will be a long day for the Bills.

Vinny and Chris have their way with the horrid Buffalo D and get a win at home.(source)

Tennessee Titans Vs San Francisco NFl Match Odds Week 9

88972048AL004_SAN_FRANCISCO

Tennessee Titans vs. San Francisco 49ers odds opened at 49ers -4 and have only moved up a half point at half the online sportsbooks.   Almost 85 percent of the spread action was on San Francisco though around 90 percent of the money line action was flowing the Titans way.

Despite Frank Gore ripping off a 66-yard first-quarter score and the 49ers being ahead through most of three quarters, last week’s play calling was still extremely conservative. Coach Mike Singletary indicated he may open things up for QB Alex Smith this week and there is no better time to do so than against Tennessee’s league-worst pass defense.

While it wasn’t a spectacular performance, Vince Young was efficient and controlled in his first start last week. The Niners boast a better defense than the Jaguars, but Young’s mission remains the same: Avoid mistakes, make some timely throws and keep plays alive using his scrambling ability.

Some other important things to consider before betting on this game:

The Titans ran for 305 yards, with an average of 6.2 yards per carry, against Jacksonville in Week 8 but the 49ers are holding opponents to just 85 yards a game on the ground (second best in the league) and that does not bode well for Tennessee. (more…)
