It has been 78 years that includes 6 Super Bowls and finally the Pittsburgh Steelers have finally got a general manager. This time it is Kevin Colbert who held the title of director of football operations since he was hired in 2000 and was promoted to GM. He became the first person to hold the title for the franchise.
However, Steelers have history of not announcing promotions and the newspaper reported that this one was merely added into the team’s media guide under Colbert’s bio. Earlier, Steelers has employed player personnel directors and also the directors of football operations. The former team president Dan Rooney was asked years ago that why he did not have a general manager like other NFL teams, he replied that because he is the general manager.
Besides this, the Pittsburgh Steelers have waived five players on Sunday. They are TE Vaughn Charlton, CB Kevin Dockery, WR Eric Greenwood, WR Kenneth Moore and TE Miguel Chavis. They are injured after sustaining a torn pectoral muscle Saturday night against the Falcons. The rookie running back, Baron Batch was placed on the injured reserve list. The Steelers need to cut four more players before Tuesday.
