Tampa Bay Buccaneers has found new leader in their offseason workouts.
Tyrone McKenzie the linebacker has rose from practice-squad member to Buccaneers workout organizer during the NFL lockout. McKenzie has joined the practice squad with the Buccaneers, and promoted to the 53 man roster for the final three games of the season.
During this offseason, McKenzie has emerged as a leader among the Tampa Bay defense, contacting with other Buccaneers players and organizing offseason workouts. He organized defensive workouts for the Buccaneers, including initial drills with help from safety Sean Jones for the team’s three-day minicamp which held at the last week.
A third-round pick of the Patriots in 2009, linebacker Tyrone McKenzie has ended his in New England ended on November 6 of last season after the Patriots approved his request to be released from the team’s practice squad.
Tyrone is a different kind of dude, said quarterback Josh Freeman, who is one of the crucial players for Tampa Bay Buccaneers workouts at the University of South Florida. Tyrone McKenzie always had that confidence and posses the leadership qualities. He came in poorly and worked hard during this offseason has been a great opportunity for him to step up and show his leadership skills.
He missed the 2009 season because of a knee injury continued with the New England Patriots. He spent the first half of the 2010 season on the Patriots’ practice squad before asking for release which was approved by the franchise. The Bucs bagged him and placed him on their practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster Dec. 14.
