Virginia Tech Football team will pay tributes for 1970 Marshall Plane crash victims to the Marshall University Memorial at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Virginia Tech head Coach Frank Beamer will attend to the Marshall University Memorial at Spring Hill Cemetery to place a 3×5 hokiest one to pay tribute for the 75 victims, who died in the 1970 Marshall Plane crash, including Virginia Tech graduate Frank Loria and Rick Tolley. Virginia Tech football players will also wear sticker on the back of their helmets. It will be a first trip for the Virginia Tech to Huntington, since 1940.
The Virginia Tech players will find round stickers with initials RT and FL for the two former Tech players involved in the plane crash along with 75 for number of victims died. Loria, who has played football for the Hokies from 1965 to1967, where he has played crucial role in the 1966 Liberty Bowl and it was first Virginia’s accord All-American. He also joined along with the Marshall University coaching staff in 1969 as defensive backs coach.
Frank Beamer said that, Beamer was a great person and outstanding player on the field, where he is having some good moment with Loria. Rick Tolley has played football as a linebacker for Virginia Tech from 1958-61 and he also the head coach for the Marshall Football team in 1969 and 1970 season.
