Phillips having 35 years coaching experience with him, including his last 29 years spent as a defensive coordinator. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and Phillips were working together for the second time on the same sidelines. Gary Kubiak and Phillip tenures overlapped with Denver Broncos from the year 1989 to 1991. Kubiak played for the club from 1983 to 1991 and Phillips served as a defensive coordinator from the year 1989 to 1992 taking as head coach in 1993 to 1994 for Denver Broncos. Phillips 63, recently given as head coach for the Dallas Cowboys in the year 2007 till midway of the 2010 season. Phillips has completed with a 34-22 record.
The Dallas Cowboys under the Phillips gave up an average of 329.9 yards per game, this ranked 10th in the NFL during his tenure and played a crucial role in three consecutive winning seasons from 2007 to 2009 including two playoff appearances. Phillips having his own coach career record is 83-66.
